so, i got back from egypt a couple months ago. got back into the swing of things with work. one panel was at the end of january, then another the week after, then mine two weeks after that. if you don't know what i mean by "panel" don't worry, it doesn't really matter. not really clear on what happened in between them; lots of work.

as a result, i now have 4 comp days and one holiday-that-i-worked-so-i-can-take-some-other-day-off day, which means i have a full week that i don't have to work and don't have to take vacation. of course, in order to do anything really serious i'd need more money than i have, so really i'm just considering going to boston at some point. i really want to go, i'm just not sure when is a good time, and even though it will cost less than, say, paris, it will still cost money because i am into eating and drinking and those things don't come free. at least, not the way i like to do them. oishii, i'm looking at you.

i got a haircut today. it's a bit shorter than i'd like it. i did ask for it to be this short, but we'll see what it's like once i wash/dry it. also got it highlighted, a combination of blond and red that are fairly subtle, though a touch less subtle than back in october.

what else. cerylium came to dc a couple weeks ago, and it was quite lovely to see her, as i haven't seen her since the last time i was in boston, the summer of 2007. hilarity and blackberry pie mark 2 ensued.

i went to a fun wine dinner at morton's (where my roommate works) and shook the hand of gilbert arenas. also i was the one who recognized him, btw, not either of the guys in our group.

i took a fantastic improv class at washingtonimprovtheater.com also known as WIT. the class was called patterns and games, and the instructor was patrick gantz. it was wonderful wonderful wonderful, and i now feel like a much more solid improviser, and am not quite so terrified of being up there on stage without having memorized a script. if you're in the dc area and are interested in improv, look into WIT! one day you might get to take patterns and games, and then you'll have an awesome experience.

sushi taro is not yet open again, boo. supposedly the end of march. word has it they cut out 50 seats and are raising prices... not sure that's a great idea, but we'll see what happens. i just hope they're a) open in time for the cherry blossom festival and b) still going to do all-you-can-eat sushi. otherwise i will cry. for realz.

battlestar galactica is over, and i am sad. i won't spoil anything here, i'm just sad it's over.

the bbc series robin hood season three is supposed to air march 28th in the uk. hopefully there will be some way for me to watch it.

i went to see the dog in the manger, by lope de vega. definitely not one of his strongest plays, but decent. this wednesday is ion by euripides. i know nothing about it.

also due to the kindness of a friend i was given a ticket to go see wynton marsalis and jazz at the lincoln center orchestra last monday, so that was a good time.

i'm aware this is all kind of a scattershot approach, but hey, at least i'm giving a substantive update, right? wheee.

i'm looking forward to two other long-time friends coming to visit, one in april and one in may, and another friend coming in june. i like feeling like i have friends. yay friends!

not going to go into details about the kate spade purse i just got to stand in for my other bag while it's off getting repaired. nope. not mentioning it's a gray logan tarrytown satchel.... nope.

no shoe purchases lately though!

i've started watching arrested development, and mad men is in the queue also, so we'll see how those go.

and yes, i did finally watch wall-e, and it was amazing and made me cry.

i can't really think of anything else. hope you all are doing well.

Anyway, I will just say, I recommend Saveur.com. They have not yet steered me wrong. Mmmmm, tasty.

Oh, also, I got Nutella today. Finally! And some Turkish figs. And random other stuff.

Wow!

My dad just gave me the Nikon D80 and 18-200 lens with which I shot in Egypt! Wooooo!!! (And two memory cards, and an extra battery pack!)

Rock on!! I am super psyched.

Also I uploaded to my Flickr account some pictures I took in high school (so don't be too critical) and pictures of when I visited Edward Gorey's house in Yarmouthport in the summer of 2007.

Unfortunately I woke up at 2:23 am this time instead of 5 like the past couple days.

So, I decided to do something useful. I finished narrowing down the 1500 pictures I took to 56, and made some small edits (removing spots, rotating). I did not retouch or alter anything beyond that.

So, here's the set on my new Flickr account:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/desultor/sets/72157612516087086/

Yay.

EDIT: I've now added descriptions to all the photos so you can even figure out what you're looking at! PPS - add me on your Flickr contact list!
